Before The Grade Shift publishes, your class or homeschool

Why The Grade Shift works in the classroom
The first three chapters introduce a protagonist who notices what
other people miss — and has to decide, more than once, what
to do about it. Along the way, the story raises real questions
worth discussing: how rumors change as they spread from person to
person, whether protecting someone by waiting to tell them
something is different from lying to them, and what it costs to
pay close attention when it would be easier not to. None of it
requires having read the whole book first.
Recommended for grades 6–9 (roughly ages
11–14). The content stays comfortably middle-school
throughout, and the ethical questions the book raises —
honesty versus timing, what fairness actually costs — are
exactly the kind this age group is ready to dig into.

- Liv never asks anyone what's going on; she just listens and waits. What does this tell you about the kind of person she is?
- Liv says, “The inaccuracies are as useful as the facts.” What do you think she means?
